Los Andes, one of the great mountain ranges of the world, is at its most magnificent in the Cuyo region (Mendoza, San Juan, La Rioja provinces), with the Aconcagua, the highest peak of the Americas at 6959 m. Kingdom of the Condor this region made of plateaus, snow-covered volcanoes, hot dry plains and oasis valleys hides one of the most important palenteologic sites in the world the 225 million years old desert landform of the Moon Valley. In the province of La Rioja lies the Talampaya Natural Park, the Grand Canyon of South America an incredible multi-shaped sculptured network of rocks produced by the erosion of wind and water. This region is also popular for its beautiful ski resorts such as Las Leñas and for the excellence of the wine it produces. One of the best spots for adventure tourism, and activities such as rafting, climbing and trekking.
